Introduction

Sport is never certain. Regardless of the odds and increasingly
data driven mathematical models, the outcomes all depend on the men and women
completing their task. Its what makes it so fascinating, why we pour our heart
and soul into chanting from the terraces, watching a car drive in a fancy
circle or spend hours analysing fantasy draft statistics.

This is a deep dive into the alternate realities, the
outcomes and legacy of how crucial moments within sporting events could have
shaped out had just one of the factors involved played out differently.

First each scenario will review what happened, then
speculate on how this could have changed before breaking down the potential
ramifications before confirming the ‘most likely’ conclusion.

This is not meant to be a serious study, rather a piece-by-piece
review, any thoughts are welcome as debate and discussion are the lifeblood of
a fandom, please though keep it polite and respectful, no one ever changes
their opinion by being shouted at!

Please enjoy.

Following the announcements of Pierre Gasly and Lance Stroll remaining with their respective teams for 2025 (right decision on the former, not a surprise on the latter) that fills 13 of the 20 driver slots for 2025 with 4 teams now confirming their lineups (Although Checo needs to be careful). That leaves 6 teams with…

  • F1 Power Rankings – Race 09 – Canada

Adieu Montreal, once again you have delivered a thoroughly entertaining race which shows, that for all of the technical innovations and rule changes, a little bit of rain really does mix it up and create the conditions that allow a variation in car performance (although having a quick car is still absolutely vital). Those proposed…

  • F1 Power Rankings – Race 08 – Monaco

Monaco, sit down, we need to talk. This is a legendary race, ask any non-racing fan to name a track and if its not there home country’s circuit then it will be Monaco, the name, the prestige is something that can be replaced and this needs to be remembered. On television, the images look fantastic…

  • F1 Power Rankings – Race 07 – Imola

A lot was learned during the pandemic of 2020 by more important aspects than sports, but for Formula 1, the curtailed season surely reinforced that the circuit makes such a difference in defining the entertainment of a race. Returning to Imola, alongside tracks like Misano, Istanbul, Portimao, the Nurburgring, even the alternate Bahrain circuit all…

  • F1 Power Rankings – Race 06 – Miami

These type of street circuits are not on the top of many F1 fans favourite tracks but as Miami showed and Singapore, Baku, Vegas and even Monaco (had Alonso pitted at the right time), it can mix the order up and cause issues for a season’s dominant car. With large sections of the fanbase very…
