Olympic fever is gripping the sporting world and with it, the conversation turns to its quadrennial ‘should there be a motorsport event in the games’ question.

It isn’t an unfeasible suggestion, certainly sailing and to a degree equestrian events rely on the vessel as much as the pilot, a Formula E style car would keep the Games’ green credentials going and with Golf and Tennis providing their megastars, they certainly enjoy the Games as much as their regular competitions, passion for an Olympic Medal would be a huge motivation.

Certainly a team event would be great fun to watch, Lewis and Lando (sorry George) versus Fernando and Carlos, new Formula E champion Pascal Werlhein alongside Nico Hulkenberg, maybe Kimi would come out of retirement to team up with Valtteri (imagine 2000s Kimi at the Olympic Village).

Fitting into the ever expanding calendar every four years wouldn’t be too difficult as it falls during the summer break, it seems unlikely to happen but it would be great fun to see.
