Judging the changes Liberty Media have made to the sport would require a longer platform than here to weigh up, but give credit to them for whoever came up with holding the Japanese Grand Prix during the Cherry Blossom season, the visual images of the race with the trees fluttering in the background were absolutely stunning.

Many have asked why this race was held in October, traditionally a wet season for the country but it seems to be forgotten that this was once the end of the F1 season.

Red Bull may have walked it again but the battle behind remains close and they might not be as far away as they were last season, when they are strong this track has always suited them, maybe just Ferrari (and who knows McLaren?) could close the gap elsewhere.
