Welcome to the F1 Power Rankings for the 2024 season. Power Rankings don’t work for many sports outside of the USA, the American divisional set up and either lack of head-to-head contests (NFL, MLS) or mass of head-to-head contests (NBA, MLB, NHL) creates an opportunity for an opinion that works in producing a competitive hierarchy.

In theory Formula 1 would have a straightforward ranking system, the lap times, the championship standings, however the very nature of the sport and the variable differences between the mechanical potential can cloud the picture in identifying which driver is truly performing across a season.

That being said, these rankings will factor in that winning races and challenging for podiums requires a certain amount of skill and pressure of expectation that battling for 16^th place doesn’t require, this is meant to be a bigger picture analysis of which driver is truly making the difference.

As ever this is an opinion piece based on obvious statistics and the better judge of the ‘eyeball’ test, if you disagree let me know your thoughts but as ever keep it professional, this is why we all love the sport after all!
